Christmas Gifts for Pet Lovers: A Royal Portrait of Their Dog or Cat

Short answer: For most dog and cat owners, the most personal gift is a royal portrait made from one clear photo: their own pet in robes and a crown, with the name in script on the mount. It works for any dog or cat, and you approve a free preview before anything is printed.

The spaniel who steals socks, now in a velvet cloak and a crown, wearing exactly the look he gives the postman.

That is the royal pet portrait, and it is the gift we would pick for most dog and cat owners. People who love their pets tend to want very little for themselves. Put the dog on the wall, though, with his name underneath, and the present is about the one family member nobody can buy for.

What do you need to send us?

Four things, and we handle the design.

  • One clear photo: Front-facing, in daylight, with the head and chest in frame. A phone photo is fine.
  • The pet's name (optional): The exact spelling, set in elegant script on the mount.
  • A royal style: King, Queen, Admiral or Noble, or "you choose" and we match their character.
  • Size and format: A digital file, an unframed print, or a framed print in black, white or oak.

The royal portrait: their own face under the crown

The royal portrait keeps what makes the pet recognisable. We design it from your photo and keep their real coat, markings, eyes and expression. The robes and crown are what we add.

The photo matters more than anything else here. One clear, front-facing daylight photo with the head and chest in frame is enough. Send two or three and we pick the strongest. If a photo will not print well, we tell you before we start.

Two pets in one portrait? That is free on prints and a small add-on on the digital file. Message us before ordering.

One honest note. Each portrait is designed digitally using AI art tools guided by our own prompts, then reviewed by hand for a true likeness. It is never sold as hand-painted.

How do you get a photo without spoiling the surprise?

A Christmas surprise makes the photo tricky. The owner is usually the one with the pictures. Ask a partner or a housemate to send you one they took themselves, as we only use photos you took or have permission to use.

If any detail is missing after you order, we message you before we start, and the timeline begins once we have everything.

Does it work for their breed?

Yes. The breed shown on each page is only an example, and the same portrait works for any dog or cat. The examples run from Beagle and Border Collie to Siamese and Maine Coon cats, so you can see how a coat like theirs comes out.

If their breed is not listed, order the royal portrait for any breed, dog or cat and send the photo.

Sizes, frames and the digital option

Unframed prints are 21 x 30 cm (A4) or 30 x 42 cm (A3), on premium satin photo paper. Framed prints arrive ready to hang, in black or white, and oak is offered on the larger mounted frames. The product page lists every frame size.

Unframed prints ship flat in rigid do-not-bend packaging, and framed prints are wrapped in tissue and boxed.

The digital download is a 300dpi file you print at home or at a local shop.

When should you order for Christmas?

Order early, because the clock starts only when we have everything we need. That means the photo as well as the order.

  • We send a preview, usually within 24 hours of receiving your photo and details.
  • After you approve it, prints are dispatched within 1-2 working days by tracked Royal Mail.
  • UK delivery usually takes 2-4 working days after dispatch.
  • Digital files are sent on approval, with no postage wait.

Delivery times are estimates, and we cannot guarantee Royal Mail dates. Before you order, check the delivery estimate shown at checkout. Royal Mail also publishes its own Christmas last posting dates each year.

Left it late? Order the digital file, approve the preview and print it locally. The crown looks just as good on a home printer.
